Another question before I update to 4.0 You say this: "Soledad version 4.0 has a lot of improve about your site speed. And to inherit it, you need to Regenerate Thumbnails."
Now, in the past I didn't have great experience with this, because the plugin kind of ruins the quality of my images. Since part of my blog is about photos, I prefer better quality over lousy quality fast images..
How can I preserve the quality of my images? I already resize my images in Photoshop for webuse, Wordpress or any other plugin degenerates the photos to crappy ones.

With any wordpress theme, if you using a layout and display featured images. The images need crop before display on your site.
Why we need to do that?
Yeah, we need to do that because we can't display the images with same size with the image uploaded. Have you think when someone upload 10 images with the size about 2-5mb for each image? If we do that, your site will very very slow for load.
That plugin will regenerate more than 2 image size on your site, it's not much.
Hi, thanks for your answer. And I totally agree to downsize those large images. But I have already done that in Photoshop, and they are like 1280px wide, 72dpi, and around 300kb per image.
Now Wordpress (or a plugin) downsizes them again, so all that's left is a crappy image unfortunately.
I was wondering what the best step is towards better looking images? What size should I upload them (without using way too much space on my server) or is there a way to tell the Regeneration Plugin to not downsize them any more?
Maybe this has nothing to do with the new great looking Soledad theme, but part of it is also good looking images, right?
I think you don't need to re-size your images from Photoshop. It can make your images blurry a bit from itself. Let's upload the images and Soledad will process it
Yes, I think Soledad might do a better job... except I don't have enough space on my hosting server to upload >1000 high res images (each about 6MB).
So far I have updated to the new Soledad theme, looks great! But haven't run the regeneration of the thumbnails... I'm afraid it will make things worse. ;)
