I have uploaded a normal image for my logo, and a retina version of it. I'm viewing my site on a normal HD (non-retina) display. For some reason, the theme displays the retina version of my logo, when it should be displaying the normal version. I've verified this through Chrome Inspector. Not happy, it's making the logo too large.
As my logo is a simple text logo (Montserrat from Google Fonts), I don't understand why the theme doesn't allow me to simply display the Site Title (set in the WP general settings) instead of forcing me to use an image. I'd be a lot happier if I could just display the Site Title, and set it to use the Montserrat font at a size and weight of my choosing. It would save a request from the server. Speed is really important, so the more requests that can be eliminated, the better.
How can I force the Site Title to display (thus eliminating the need to upload a logo image), and set it to use the Montserrat font? (Preferred option!) Why don't you give us this option? It's a bog-standard option being offered by the majority of themes I've used!
Failing that, how do I force the theme to display the normal logo image, when being viewed on a non-retina display, and only display the retina version when the site is being viewed on a Retina or UHD display?
Because some reasons - we don't provide text logo, here is some main reasons:
1/ Responsive: if someone make a text logo: ( Example: The Travel for Womens) and use font size about ~40px. It will display good for desktop, but for mobile it can't be responsive, the text will cut off.
2/ Line height of fonts: I don't know if you knew about it or no. But, most fonts has line-height deviated, this make the text logo can't center for vertical.
3/ Brands: we always want to bring to our customers the best things. We knew that, have a logo different for your site better more than with a simple text. It related with your brand after.
4/ Sharing: sharing your homepage on social media with a logo is better much with not logo image.
With your case, you can do that by do following steps:
1/ You can use an image with high quality, for your case now you can use image with the size x2 or x3 the currently logo.
2/ Set a max width for your logo ( Customize > Logo and Header Options > Max width for logo ) to re-size it smaller. This will displayed good for all devices.
