    Hello,

I have created a blog using Soledad and added the Polylang plugin. I have created 2 languages and have a couple of issues:

    1) when typing the URL it goes directly to the French version and I would like it to be the English version

    2) on mobile and internet explorer, whether I click on French or English, it's always the French version of the site that appears

    3) If I want a custom sidebar on each of the homepages (One for French and one for English) how can I do this? Currently I have created 2 custom sidebars but if I choose one in the customizing menu, then it doesn't display the other in the other language.

Can you please help with these questions?

    Thanks,

    Gaël

    Hi,

1/ What's option you did fill the url? And have you using pencilang shortcode like we said here?

2/ On mobile or IE, the dropdown will show or redirect to the link by touch lightly or strongly on the items menu. It will understand that: touch lightly = hover and touch strongly = click.

3/ You should use this feature from each widget to display the correct widgets for each language.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the pencilang shortcode.

    I still experience issues:

1/ Where do I need to fill the URL option? Basically when typing my domain name, it automatically goes to the /fr version. It also automatically goes to the French version when I click even on "Home" when I'm on the English version of the site. I  have checked but I have filled in the correct URLs for both pages when doing the main primary menus: EN = www.thehappyencounter.com & FR = www.thehappyencounter.com/fr

2/ OK got it. It works

3/ I have used that feature: for custom sidebar 1 I have said display for English, and custom sidebar 2 display for French. The French one is visible, but not the English one

    Thanks again

    Hi,

1/ Because you've set French is your main language. Also, your menu "Home" item is a custom link - if you want to update this menu item link, you need to go to Appearance > Menus > click on menu item "Home" and update the link for this.

And you should check this guide to know how to setup menu on Polylang. You need to create 2 menus for 2 languages.

    2/ Ok.

3/ You should use one sidebar - don't need to use 2 sidebar.

Example for use "Soledad About Me" widget for 2 languages, drag & drop 2 widgets "Soledad About Me" to main sidebar, config one for English and select it display for English only, and config one for French and select it display for French only.

    Best Regards,

    Good morning,

    Thanks.

Just as an indication can you let me know where in the config I need to check? Just to make sure I check everything.

    Thanks,

    Gaël

    Hi,

You can check all the config from Polylang because I'm not sure where you did wrong.
