Customising category pages

I'm trying to customise the category pages, and have a few questions:

    1) For top level category pages, do you have an option to split articles into it's sub categories, or would I have to create a page to do this?

    2) I am using the layout "1st Standard Then Grid 2 Columns", how can I control the number of articles that appear? At the moment there is an even number of articles which means on the bottom row there is an article on the left and just white space to the right of it.

    3) How can I have a "CONTINUE READING" button under each article?

    4) How do I hide the post date? (I have tried ticking "hide post date" under Standard & Classic Layout)

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,

1/ You can use category pages to do that. ( When you go to Appearance > Menus > on the left side click on "Categories" and you can add any category to your menu )

A category can have many level sub-categories, so make it lists all child categories in a page is not good solution, so we don't do that.

2/ We've said about this in the documentation for Soledad theme here. I think you should check it first before create a new ticket - It's save time for you & us.

3/ You can add continue reading button for 1st post on 1st Standard Then Grid 2 Columns layout by one in 2 ways:

    a) Go to Customize > Standard & Classic Layout Options >  and check to "Auto Render Excerpt"

    b) Add a read more tag in your editor - check this image

You can add read more button for all other posts on 1st Standard Then Grid 2 Columns layout by go to Customize > Other Layouts Options > and check to "Add Read More Button"

4/ Please check option for it via Customize > Other Layouts Options

    Best Regards,

Thanks for your answers. However I'm a little confused on point 2.

You have pointed me to your documentation for the homepage. But the only part about changing the number of articles shown is within "Homepage Options". I have gone through them all, and none seem to affect the number of articles shown on my category pages...

    Hi,

    Have you read this?

" If you would like to adjust the amount of posts shown per page on Archive page (category page, search page, tag page...),you can go to Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most and change the number to the value as you desired. "

    Best Regards,
