Not exactly a bug but thoughts about video features (or limitations).
We know that YouTube video links are of at least two kinds. An example of two different links of the same video: (I had to insert those underscores to avoid them becoming embedded)
Following some tests, I discovered that Penci Block Video and Penci Single Video are not fully compatible with the first link format: if we click on the central small button “Play” on the block, nothing happens (black applet) if behind is the https://you_tu.be/4hNwV1hlA24 format. It plays only if behind is the https://www.you_tube.com/watch?v=4hNwV1hlA24 format.
(inside the post, both formats are played ok by the embedded player)
Another discovery concerned Penci Videos Playlist. Surprisingly, it is not compatible with a YouTube Playlist link nor with a YouTube channel link. Only works individual YouTube videos links, added one by one.
Naturally, I can only hope about these important – I would say critical for a magazine theme – integrated video widgets to become more polyvalent in the future :)
I see. However, we are talking about a standard in the industry here. It goes beyond one user. I think that such incomprehensible incompatibility risk to generate misunderstanding and frustration in the long term. For a simple solution, at least transitory, why not create an internal redirect like If “youtu.be” detected inside the videolink_ABCDE then redirect to www.you_tube.com/watch?v=ABCDE
I said with our developers about this and they said this feature will update in the next version of PenNews Please wait for it. The next version of PenNews will release in next some days.
After checking more, I found that Penci Videos Playlist doesn't accept Query either. Or allowing different heights. There are so many possible functions to add into the Penci video widgets, I really hope you will improve them all :) Best regards

Have a nice day:)
Hi,
Yeah, exactly - now you need to use the link like:
https://www.you_tube.com/watch?v=4hNwV1hlA24 to make it work. Because it related with yutube embed shortcodes from Wordpress.
We will consider to add more support for the other link format in the future update.

Hi again,
After checking more, I found that Penci Videos Playlist doesn't accept Query either. Or allowing different heights. There are so many possible functions to add into the Penci video widgets, I really hope you will improve them all :) Best regards
Hi,
1/ Yeah, I was tell with our developers about this. Hope in the next update, it will fixed.
2/ No any theme supports for custom different heights for Video Playlists. The height based on the width of container you're use.
