Hi, I am currently using the Pennews child theme, but I would like to update the main theme to the latest version. What is the process for this?

    Hi,

This theme is auto-update. So, you just need go to Appearance > Themes > click to "Update Now" button.

After updated it, go to Appearance > Install Plugins > and update all plugins needed.

I am on version 4.1 and I see that there is an update available (4.2) but I don't see an "Update Now" in my Themes panel. I didn't see it even when I activated the main theme either. Have a look https://imgur.com/a/xwiJGaL. Do I just need to wait longer and it will appear later?

So when I delete the theme and the plugins, will my settings still be there in both the plugins and the theme when I reinstall everything?

    Hi,

I just deactivate plugins "Easy Updates Manager" & "Wordfence Security" - and I can see the update now button.

So, in the future, if you want to update this theme, please do following steps:

1/ Deactivate "Easy Updates Manager" & "Wordfence Security" plugins.

2/ Go to Appearance > Themes > click to button "Update Now" and wait until it done.

3/ Go to Appearance > Install Plugins > update all plugins come with the theme which you're using.

4/ Active again plugin "Easy Updates Manager" & "Wordfence Security" plugins - if you want to keep use that plugins.

Thank you for helping with that! Now, to update the premium plugins do I need to download the zip file from ThemeForest, delete the current plugins and reinstall the plugins from the zip file? If I delete plugins, will my settings dissapear as well or will they remain when the updated version is installed?

    Hi,

No - you don't need to re-download the zip file from themeforest anymore. Just need to do everything as I said in my previous comment for next updates.

The theme has now been updated to the latest version, yet the premium plugins have not been updated. For example, the Convert Plus plugin is on version 3.2.3 on my site, but the new ThemeForest zip file includes an updated version of that plugin: 3.3.0. In appearance > Install Plugins, there are only two things showing: PenNews Demo Import and Penci Recipe. That’s why I’m wondering if I need to delete and install them manually each time the ThemeForest zip file is updated.

    Hi,

Yeah, for premium plugins - you need to re-download it from themeforest and install them manually each time - we've said about this here

Ok thanks, I hadn't seen that. One last thing. So when I delete a plugin then reinstall it, my plugin settings and data are not actually deleted right? They will reappear?

    Hi,

Yeah, you won't lose anything when you do that. They will reappear.
