Hi there. I'm converting an existing blog to adopt Soleded theme & I got some issues with implementation of the recipes.
My current recipe plugin supports and generates rich snippets as well. Pasting the recipes into their columns generated a different styke than the one appear in your demos, and also did not generated the Scheme relevant classnames, in the containers and items of the ingredients and instructions.
Links for the tests I ran:
Test one: http://wftest.homus.com.br/rugelach/ As you can see, ingredients did not get the itemprop="ingredients" , as well as Instructions. Besides that, the style is far away from the design presented in the theme in all the demos.
So I tested a clean and flat data recipe, with some line, to check if it was a problem with me pasting already existing text, and got the same results - http://wftest.homus.com.br/omelete-vegano/
I have also confirmed my steps with your video tutorial and saw that It was exactly what I was doing.
Can you guys give me some tips or even an already made tutorial? I'm an experienced client side developer, if thats got to do with anything :)
To make the recipe ingredients can validated, you need go to Customize > Recipe Options > and un-check on "Make Ingredients is Visual Editor on Edit Recipe Screen" because the editor from wordpress can't auto render itemprop="ingredients" to ingredients of your recipe.
If you want to create headings for recipe ingredients, you can use this format like this for ingredients:
I have ran the recipe in google's testing tool, and saw that 4 fields are missing:
Also I saw that the instructions served as a single filed, instead of separated steps, like my current plugin is doing.
Questions:
Do you guys plan on adding these fields (keyword, category, cuisine & video)? All of my recipes have cuisine and category defined and some have videos, that I think would be great to integrate in the structured data.
Attached please find search console's recipes status report of my current site. Google have wrote:
What is your stand regarding this warnings? I know that a warnings aren't errors, but these fileds are very easy to implement & seems like a task that can benefit a lot your users.
Recipe instructions. I see that you guys have embedded them as a single step. Do you guys plan on allowing them to be embedded as separated steps? In the documentation on Google Developers Site, this is what they wrote:
Exist a chance you guys will implement them as steps in the future, or can I do something already now in th current plugin config?
1/ Yeah, we will add more that fields in the future update. Currently, It's not required fields and it doesn't affect to your recipe - your recipe still validated normal.
a) About keywords, category, cuisine & video - check on point 1/
b) About recipe ingredients, I've said about this with you on my previous comment.
c) For rating - please make sure you enable ratings via Customize > Recipe Options.
d) Cooktime & prep time - please validate your recipe here and you can see it's missing or not. If it's missing - let's check again your recipe, make sure you filled for all the fileds for cooktime & prep time. The theme supports this feature already.
3/ Thank you for your suggest. We will consider to add more this feature in the future updates.
