I'm running a blog with the Soledad theme and wanted to add the Google Translate widget using the top menu (see link to blog). I added the Google Translate widget to Footer Column 1, and then I used the links to the two languages English and Russian as options on my top menu "Switch to English" and "На Русском"
But when clicking on the buttons the blog keeps the original language, it's like the theme is cutting the links of Google translate. It's working if choosing the language manually in Footer Column 1, but not if I put the same links to the Top Menu
Yeah, As I know, this plugin just work when you select to change the languages on the select box. It doesn't work when you access to the link as you said.
If you want to make your site work as the link you said - please use WPML or Polylang plugin. That's plugin for multiples languages.
Then I wonder how I can add the language widget so that it appears on the top menu or somewhere on the top. Now it's in Footer Column #1 and in the WP admin the only options are footers and sidebars, but I would like this widget to appear on top of the page, so that the visitor can choose their language directly.
The problems here is the plugin doesn't exists any hook to put the select box at the top of the page. I think the best solution here is put it on the top of sidebar widget ( "Main Sidebar" )
Hi!

I added the Google Translate widget to Footer Column 1, and then I used the links to the two languages English and Russian as options on my top menu "Switch to English" and "На Русском"
The link to the English version is: https://olgaringquist.blog/en/ or https://olgaringquist.blog/en/?lang=en
The link to the Russian version is: https://olgaringquist.blog/ru/ or https://olgaringquist.blog/?lang=ru
But when clicking on the buttons the blog keeps the original language, it's like the theme is cutting the links of Google translate. It's working if choosing the language manually in Footer Column 1, but not if I put the same links to the Top Menu
How can this be solved?
Many thanks in advance!
