how do i add photo to show in category for Portfolio.

i go to portfolio, change the name of category and create a new project. but when i see a preview i see only one photo .

i have another question can i upload pdf file in my media? where do i make this? in my precedent template i go to media and i found document, there i can upload my docs and pdf file.
