We exported all posts (XML) from our previous site and then imported to the new site via WP Import/Export -- however, the feature images did not make it through the transfer. I transferred the media folder first and thought that as a last effort it would then find my images (on my second try) but still no feature images appear on each individual post. We're dealing with thousands of posts so hopefully you have a solution for us ASAP. Thank you!
In the most case, the WordPress import will not able to import multiple media because the limit of the hosting. With your case, I recommend you:
1/ Export database of your old site and open it on notepad, replace all old site url to new site url.
2/ Import that database to new site.
3/ Download all root folder of your old site ( folders from wp-content, wp-admin... ) and upload it to the new site and reconfig the database & other infor in wp-config.php file
If you still want to do with the Wordpress Import - you need to contact with the hosting provider and ask them about this. Maybe they will help you increase the limit from the hosting to help you import all that.
This is not issues related with the theme, so I just can guide you with all points above.
