I have set up a Category called Education with several sub-categories. I have two posts each using a different sub-category (Home School, Private). When I go to the home page the sub-categories do not display when I click on Education in the main menu. I am using layout 13 for Education just as used on the other Main Menu items (Finance, World).

That's right. Because when you go to any category page - the posts inside that category will display - it doesn't display the child categories.
This theme doesn't support display child categories as a list on the category pages.

That wasn't the issue, but not to worry I figured out what needed to be done. It was a menu problem.
