    can I add an area on the homepage to add a large ad unit like in the attached from GQ? (the Samsung area)

    Hi,

    To do that, I recommend you use Elementor to config your homepage. It's easy to help you can put ads to any place as you want.

    Please install Elementor and do following this video tutorial to know how to config homepage by use Elementor.
