I've tried to import the demo several times now, all plug-ins activated, no posts or pages... And every time I do it, it freezes after 2 minutes on a section that says "Generated image ID 8610 successfully (1537 images left)"....and never changes. What do I do?
It seems you've imported multiple demos - it makes your site mixed now.
Have you read the "NOTE IMPORTANT" here on import demo data page before you import a demo?
For your site now, as I see it's a new site, no posts/pages need to keep. So, you can use plugin WordPress Reset to reset everything to default and do the import again. And let's read the note important on the import demo data page.

Awesome, thank you! I had followed all the instructions on the note, but Wordpress Reset is what fixed it.
Also, is there a way to make it so the posts in the Featured slider don't show up below that on the home page? I don't want posts repeated. Thanks.

You can use option from Customize > Featured Slider Options > Exclude All Posts on the Featured Slider in Latest Posts on Homepage
