Hi - how do image captions work? Previously, i just used

    title="Text goes here"

in the HTML and it would appear under the image. How does it work in Soledad? i need to have captions because i need to explain the content of images. In Customise I have selected "Enable Caption on Slider of Gallery Post Format for Single Posts style 1 & 2" and "Move Caption of Images to Below The Images" - but this hasn't worked.

Please see the image that shows a screenshot and the HTML.

    Many thanks!

    Hi,

You need to add caption for your images via Media Library - check this image

Note: The caption of image will display below the image - not on the lightbox.

i don't usually use Media Library, i add the image URLs manually.

All of the image captions on my blog (for the last 12 years!) are in the title="TEXT" code - is there really no way to use this for captions? If not, i have a very big problem...!

Maybe it's possible to use the TITLE under the image instead of the Caption?

    Hi,

It seems you did a wrong way in the previous time. You can check this guide to know how to add caption for images inside WordPress:

    https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-add-caption-to-images-in-wordpress/

What's the way you're using caption in the previous time? Please tell me detail about this - I will try to find a solution for you.

Oh dear i feel very stupid now!

i used to have a theme called Big City (https://themeforest.net/item/big-city-personal-and-blog-wordpress-theme/309410), and it would take the image title text (title="XXXX") and display it below the image.

Honestly, i didn't know about captions and didn't understand there was a better way of doing it. i'm glad you have told me the correct way to do things! Though i really don't like using the Media Library on Wordpress, i prefer to keep my images organised online and insert them using HTML.

If you can find a solution i will be very happy! But i also understand if it's impossible - it's all my fault!!

Actually, i think i need to clarify.

Each image i use has TWO versions: a SMALL version which is embedded in the blog post (which does NOT have a caption), which links to a LARGE version which opens up in lightbox with a caption.

    Hi,

Yeah, the caption on the lightbox will be appear when you use caption of images like I said above.

Okay, but i don't understand how to do this. How do i use a small image in the Media Library (without a caption) to open a large image in the Media Library (with a caption)? i've tried and can't figure out how to do it - i imagine it's really simple but i can't seem to do it. i use small images in the blog post, which expand to large when you click on them.

    Sorry if i'm being stupid!

    Hi,

Please try remove this selected code like on this image to do that.

After that, clear all the caches and open a post and press Ctrl + F5 and check it again.
