    Hi!

I'm having trouble finding the right settings for the featured image not to be displayed at the top of my posts on the homepage. I'm using the layout where there's a full post first and then a grid of posts.

When ticking the box to not display featured image the image does disappear on the posts on the homepage, but when looking on a single post it also disappears and I would like to have the featured image with the overlay meta data still visible without having the featured image at the top of the post on the homepage. Hope that makes sense.

And also, I am trying to figure out how to make my image captions be displayed as an overlay on the bottom of the image. Not sure if this is a feature for the theme or a WordPress setting that I haven't found yet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

    Hi,

1/ I think you can go to Customize > Standard & Classic Layouts Options > make sure you don't check to "Hide Post Thumbnail" and check to "Auto Render Posts Excerpt"

2/ It's image caption from WordPresssmile.png When you select any image on your media library, you can see on the right side an option to add "Caption" for the image - check this image

    Hi!

Yeah, when I check "auto render posts excerpt" there's only one photo in the top of the post on the homepage. But then there's a read more button and I would like the full post to be visible without the extra featured image on top. I thought about just skipping to add a photo at the top of my posts, but then I would have to change all my posts and it would be easier if there's a setting or line of code I could use to hide the featured image on the posts on the homepage.

Sorry if my explanation is confusing, english isn't my first language :)

Ah, thanks! I'l try that for the captions!

    Hi,

But, I see your images on a single post page like this post:

    https://jennyelisabeth.se/2020/09/18/dagens-makeup-milk-makeup-flex-foundation-stick/

It's different, so why you need to hide the first image on post your content?

Yes, I know. On the single post page it looks like I want it to with the featured image and the meta overlay. But on the homepage (http://jennyelisabeth.se) some posts have the same featured image as the image I myself add in to the post at the top. Like I previously said, I could just not add an image at the top of the post and let the featured image be as it is.

But if I do that I would have to edit all my posts since the layout of them all is pretty much the same. For the posts where the featured image is the same as the image as I have added to the post in the beginning, it looks weird to have the same image twice. So I was hoping there was a setting or something to change this. I can't show you a screenshot of this since the homepage layout is set to 1 full post and the rest in a grid, and when clicking on a post from the grid you go to the single post layout which looks fine and has the featured image with the meta overlay like I want it to.

I hope that explained more of what I'm thinking of.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

If so, I think the best solution for this is go to Customize > Standard & Classic Layout Options > and check to "Hide Post Thumbnail" to make the featured image doesn't appears on your homepage. And it keep appears on the single post page.

That works! But then I have another problem, when I tick the "Hide post thumbnail" box (under standard & classic layout in the customizer), it looks like I want it to on the homepage (http://jennyelisabeth.se). But when going to a single page/post the post title, comment count, view count etc that used to be displayed as an overlay on the slider (or featured image?) at the top isn't there anymore.

    Hi,

Strange, it shouldn't affect anything to the post information inside your single post pages.

Please go to Customize > Single Post Options > make sure you don't check to hide the meta there.

If you didn't do that, Please send me your WordPress site admin URL and admin account ( username and password  ) - in a private reply. I will take it a look at this to help you.
