I have modified some files of the theme to open posts in a new tab. it was working correctly. However yesterday I have updated the theme and now all the changes have been reverted back.
How can I do such changes permanently? I tried to use the child theme. But the file structure of it not same as the parent theme. Also if I activated the child theme, the whole design of the web site will change.
So the child theme is not represent the parent theme. How can i fix this issue? can we generate the child theme from the current parent theme ?
1/ To move all customization data from parent theme to child theme - please use plugin Customizer Export/Import. Please install & activate the plugin Customizer Export/Import and do following steps to move your theme to child theme:
a) Keep activate parent theme > go to Appearance > Customize > Export/Import > and click to export the customization data > you will get a .dat file.
b) Go to Appearance > Themes > install & activate child theme
c) Got o Appearance > Customize > Export/Import > and select to import the .dat file you got on step a).
2/ And you can use child theme to customization templates from parent theme.
