    Hi,

    This issue caused by you didn't create a menu for your site.

    Please go to Appearance > Menus > create a new menu > add menu items on the left side to your menu - check this image > scroll down and check to "Primary Menu" at the bottom and save it.

    But can you teach me how to show "how many documents does each category have" on the menu?

    Hi,

    The categories you've showing here: http://prntscr.com/us8t5u is category widget from WordPress and it doesn't support on the menu items. So, unfortunately, there is no way to showing the post count on the menu.
