I have an issue with the Soledad Theme, version 7.4.2 (I tested and I have the same issue with 7.5.1).

Everywhere in my site where I have a lists of posts (Featured posts, Posts Lists, Latest Posts, recent posts in the footer, etc....), instead of taking the number of posts to load specified everywhere (in Reading->Settings, or in the various Theme Options where this can be specified) - which is 8 everywhere; the lists load the ENTIRE posts list of my database.

Given that my site has over 5000 posts, the Latest Posts on the homepage loads the entire archive, instead of only loading 8 posts and displaying a pager at the bottom like it should.

Do you have any idea what could be the cause of this issue?

    Hi,

It seems you have a plugin caused this issue. Have you checked with your plugins first?

Please try to deactivate all plugins ( except plugins come from the theme ) and try it again. If it works, let's enable each plugin to check what's plugin caused this issue.

    Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply. I tested this and it didn't change anything. Even with only the required/suggested plugins activated I had the same behavior with infinite loading posts.

I even tried disabling all the recommended plugins (leaving none active), and I had the same issue.

Do you have any other idea?

    Hi again,

In order to help get a resolution on this issue, here are a few screenshots of the environment on which I get this issue. I installed the vanilla theme on my wordpress and took the most basic steps to reproduce the issue, by installing the Widget ".Soledad Recent Posts" in the Footer Column #1

    • As you can see, every plugin in WP has been disabled. The same issue happens when only the mandatory/recommended plugins are activated.
    • Configuration of the Footer: I'm asking for only 3 posts
    • And you can see the resulting page, I stopped the page rendering before it was over, but as you can see, the take 3 items isn't taken into account. To give you an idea, you can see the page scroller on the upper right side of the image.
    • I have the same issue with every Featured List, Latest Posts widgets on my installation.

Thanks in advance for your reply, hopefully this will help!

    Hi,

I just checked your site and I found there is something wrong with your hosting or your config.

I've disabled all plugins & enabled a default theme from WordPress itself "Twenty Fifteen" - and the issue still appears - you can check on the staging site to see it.

With this issue, please contact with your hosting provider and ask them about this. It seems that's not issues controled by the theme itself.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your feedback.

Effectively the same issue was appearing with the other theme which gave us a hint as to where to search. It appeared that my old theme required to put the posts in "Sticky" in order to see them in the featured header, and having 1500+ sticky posts loaded at each query was causing this issue.

Once we figured that out, it made a lot of sense as to why this issue is happening, and un-sticky-ing every post in our archive did the trick.

If other people gets this issue, hopefully this thread can help them!

    Thanks!
