    I can't figure out which settings need to be on for me to add the full-width slider to my home page. I want a full-length slider with  the rest of the page having the side bar.

    Hi,

    You can go to Customize > Featured Slider > General > on "Featured Slider Style" select a Full-Width slider as you want.

    Example: Style 3, Style 5, Style 28... etc
