When I add an image as Featured Image for a post and then replace that image it is showing up as Featured Image but not as a thumbnail at a post overview (see related Url). Also when I empty the cache, the problem remains. Also when I replace the image with an image with another filename.
This problem arises quite often and I dont know how to solve it.

The problem because your uploaded image contains an error, so WordPress can't regenerate it correctly. For example
Please try to upload this image again and turn off all image optimization then check again.
