How to create news snippets

    Hi,

I'm searching for a convenient way to display news snippets within the Soldedad template. I'm wondering which is the best PenciDesign element to use. They have to fulfill the following conditions:

    1. They should be manageable separately from the standard posts, i.e. not appear in 'related news' or 'recent news' (I assume this can be done by assigning a specific category and excluding them)

    2. They are without image, so even placeholders should not be visible or appear anywhere. It's just headline, copy and date (and tags).

    3. They should be displayed separately in search results as a separate section.

    4. They should have tags assigned to them (I assume I would have to create unique tags for these news snippets)

Can you suggest the best possible way to integrate this into our Soledad template's options?

    Thanks, kind regards ...

    Hi,

Do you mean you want to create a custom page template with the blog listing?

    Hi,

in a way yes. This custom page is dedicated to feature really short posts (max. 100 words). I'm searching for an element that doesn't make an image mandatory because I want these snippets to be displayed without an image. All the elements I tested so far are making an image mandatory.

    Hi again,

    let me add more explanations:

I have one dedicated page for short news, sorted by date (see attached image, only layout). Each news item is a post with a unique category name (short-news) to differentiate the short news from standard posts/blog articles. I may add tags as well, but will make them unique too, so it doesn't mix up with the tags for standard posts.

On the starting homepage I want to display 5-6 short news snippets with headline and body copy. Underneath the section there will be a button to link directly to the above mentioned short news page. All this shall be query based.

My question is, which is the best element to use that does not force me to use an image and that will also use a query to automate the display and order of snippets?

    Hi,

Following your case, you can use the Penci Latest Posts elements and add some custom CSS code to hide the post thumbnail.

Please provide me with your WordPress admin account credentials. I will log in and attempt to assist you in creating a demo.

    Regards,
    PenciDesign.
