    Hi,

I'm about to update Soledad to the latest version (have version 8.3.8 at the moment). Is there anything I should take into account?

And, do I still have to regenerate the thumbnails after updating the Penci Recipe plugin? (You updated the schema markup for the Penci Recipe plugin to align with the latest Google updates).

    Hi,

You can upgrade to the latest version of Soledad without any issues and don't need to regenerate the thumbnails again.

    Regards,
    PenciDesign.

    Hi,

I'm confused. Here you say we have to regenerate the thumbnails: https://prnt.sc/6GITTsKmabOS And in this support ticket #3480926 you say the same.

My last Soledad + Penci Recipe plugin update was 1 august 2023. So I haven't regenerated the thumbnails at all until now. Thus, I have to regenerate them right after updating to the latest 8.4.4 version right?

    Hi,

Regarding the Penci Recipe plugin, you need to regenerate all the images because it will include a new image size in the Google Rich Snippet code.

    PenciDesign.

    Hi,

Ok, now I am really confused. In this support ticket (#3480926) you or your colleague said that I only have to regenerate the featured imageshttps://prnt.sc/aVleXf-yZvZr

When I regenerate thumbnails for all the images (approximately 3000), will take much more time (2-4 hours) than only regenerating the featured images (811). So please, can you tell me the right answer to that? We pay for this support and it's really important that nothing goes wrong...

    Hi,

I've replied to this ticket. In general, you should regenerate all the posts that contain the featured image with the recipe content.

    PenciDesign.

    Hi,

Now I'm even more confused. What do yo mean with 'in general'? All the posts contains a featured image ofcourse, and I have in each posts some 'normal' images. See for example: https://smaakmenutie.nl/franse-uiensoep

Please tell me specific what I have to do, there you have developed the update of the Penci recipe plugin.

Is it for Google better to regenerate all the images (3000) or just the featured images (800)? Is it necessary to regenerating all the images? Because that takes much more time so it will be helpful if you advice us.

    Hi,

    1. I mean you need to generate the featured image that is included in the recipe post only,

    2. You can ignore the thumbnail regenerator progress if your server can't handle this task. The Penci Recipe plugin will use the full image size instead of the missing image size.

    Regards,
    PenciDesign.

    Hi,

Ok, so I only have to regenerate the featured image in the recipe post only? And not the other images in the post? Can I do that by clicking on the second button (which says: "regenerating thumbnails for 811 featured images"): https://prnt.sc/HmW1xlEXm73f

Is that enough for Google, will this improve the validation of the recipes on Google? And will regenerating images harm my ranking position on Google or will it achieve better results?

Ps. Please answer all my questions above and can you please respond sooner to my questions?

    Hi,

Yes. You only need to regenerate the featured image in the recipe post. (Click the regenerating thumbnails for 811 featured images button).

We will incorporate the new Google Rich Snippet data in the upcoming version of Penci Recipe. This update includes the new image size for displaying recipe thumbnails on Google SERP for both mobile and desktop.

    Regards,
    PenciDesign.

    Hi,

But you already included the new image size in the Soledad 8.4.0 update right? See https://prnt.sc/6GITTsKmabOS

That's why I have to regenerate all the thumbnails of the featured images now and what we're talking about all the time... Or includes this another new image size? Do I have to regenerate it again after updating the upcoming version of Penci Recipe?

    PenciDesign replied

    Hi,

Yes, we've added a new image size specifically for the Penci Recipe plugin and recipe posts only.

You don't need to regenerate the images again after having new sizes.

    Regards,
    PenciDesign.

    Hi,

Ok, any idea when this upcoming update will take place?

And, can regenerating the featured images harm my ranking position on Google?

    Hi,

    1. Which update are you referring to?

    2. The progress of regenerating featured images does not affect your site ranking.

    Hi,

    1. The upcoming update you told me 2 days ago: We will incorporate the new Google Rich Snippet data in the upcoming version of Penci Recipe. This update includes the new image size for displaying recipe thumbnails on Google SERP for both mobile and desktop.

    2. I just updated the latest version of Soledad and regenerated the featured images (811 images).

Any idea what happened to my featured image of the categories: https://smaakmenutie.nl/categorie/recepten/pasta ? It's so small, you have to click on the link 'see recipe' to see the featured image..

    3. Can you please check if everything went well with the featured images and if they have now the new image size? For example: https://smaakmenutie.nl/kip-jalfrezi

    Hi,

    2. The featured image at the categories page. I can't open your url. Screenshot: https://prnt.sc/qbo5dgJFJ08g

    3. Can you please check it for me, there I don't know which new size you added for Google. This update already took me a lot of time, so it would be nice if you could check if everything is (still) OK.

    2. Please go to Appearance → Customize → General → Category, Tag, Search, Archive Pages: turn on the "Disable Auto Collapse Description Content" option.

    3. I'll check and then send you a report as soon as possible.
