I am using Soledad 8.4.3 and in the last two updates after that, my footer gets duplicated. Oddly, the duplicates are almost identical, ut some elements are not quite the same.
When I look at my footer widget. I can only find one version, not the other.
I retain a service to help me with these kinds of issues and they tell me not to update Soledad and "wait for them to fix that bug." They've tested the last two updates and both create the duplicate footer, so I'm stuck on this version for now. They suggested for me to "let the developer know" and so here I am, telling you.
Do you have a fix in the works—or are my WP team mistaken in the cause?
[Note: I did not think to take a screenshot of the duplicated footer and it does not show up in the older version of Soledad theme that I'm using now.]
Thanks for taking the time to look at my site. You probably noticed that I'm using an older version of the Soledad theme.
I apologize for any lack of clarity on my part in earlier messages. I already know that there is a single footer. Now. That's because when we updated to the newer Soledad versions and it created a duplicated footer, we restored a backup with the older Soledad version that had a single footer. That's the only way we could get rid of the extra footer to give our current users a good experience on our website.
When the next new version of Soledad came out after that, we tried updating the theme again. And again, we ended up with a duplicated footer. We cannot find where or how it is duplicating, so we once again went back to the older version of Soledad theme. That is, we took steps to remove the duplicated footer on our live website—which is what everyone sees now.
The problem I'm trying to solve is how to update the theme without it creating an extra footer.

Okay, I updated Soledad theme and now you can see the duplicated footer.
This is the footer that should be there (alone):
Hi,
I've fixed this issue by removing the footer.php on the child theme.
If you want to add the custom code to the footer, please go to Appearance → Customize → Footer → General.
