I wrote three blog articles and oftentimes I direct readers to watch a Youtube video by making a simple hyperlink. I am not trying to embed the Youtube video in the page, but rather to send the reader to the video by creating a simple hyperlink in the text. Like this:
I just noticed that every single hyperlink I created does the same thing. Instead of sending the reader to Youtube to watch the video, a lightbox opens with the error message "Youtube refused to connect." Screenshot attached.
Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
I did not expect the hyperlink to open a lightbox. But I do actually like that it does. I need the lightbox to play the video, or I need the link to properly direct the reader to the video on Youtube.
This issue is happening on every link on each of these pages:
I've checked your site, the problem maybe come with the Lightbox JS code.
If you want to use this feature on the current Soledad version, please try to install the YouTube WordPress Plugin by Embed Plus plugin and follow the document at this link: https://wordpress.org/plugins/youtube-embed-plus/
Thank you for looking at it. When you say the problem might be from the "Lightbox JS code", is this related to any plugins that I have installed? Is it related to the Responsive Lightbox & Gallery plug in I have?
Or is the "Lightbox JS code" part of the theme itself?
In the meantime, I will try the recommended plug in and see if that fixes the problem.
The plug-in now seems to be working properly, allowing the video to play within a lightbox when I use this form of the YouTube URL.
However, when I try to get the lightbox to play the video starting at a certain time, I get an error.
Do you know how I can write the link so that the lightbox plays a video at a certain time?
I have tried the link in all of these forms. They all give an error message.
Do you know how I can write the link so that the lightbox plays a video at a certain time? I would appreciate the help so much!
PS - For anyone who finds this thread here is the setting to stop the plugin from making a lightbox. If you uncheck this box, then the plugin will disable the lightbox for video feature. It's under Lightbox > General
It's possible that the plugin you installed doesn't include the functions supporting YouTube timing. Please reach out to the plugin author to obtain an effective solution.

Hi,
You must ensure the URL contains embed rather watch as the /embed endpoint allows outside requests, whereas the /watch endpoint does not.

Thank you for your reply. However, I am still having a problem.
I replaced the link with /embed/ version, but I am still getting an error. Please see the attached screenshots.
