Using the same ticket (let's finish that) I attempted to use this. Set up a way to show an excerpt and a read more. I left on, but it seem to me like no working. May be cached. Let's see

Please go to Appearance → Customize → Posts Layouts → Standard and Classic/Other Posts Layouts: turn off the "Hide Post Views" option.
