Pluralization in Penci Blocks
Closed

Inside Penci Blocks, the word "comment" is not properly pluralized when the comment count is 0.

    It should be:

    • 0 comments (plural)
    • 1 comment (singular)
    • 1+n comments (plural)

    Hi,

    1. Please send me the URL that is related to this issue.

    2. You can modify the theme text by going to Appearance → Customize → Quick Text Translation.

    Regards,
    PenciDesign.

The problem is even present on your demo page - see screenshots. It has to be "0 comments" and not "0 comment".

Translation won't solve this. If I change "comment" to "comments", then it will say "1 comments", which is incorrect. You need to place the pluralized string on the theme level for cases when comments are 0 to correct this.

Hi, looks like this still hasn't been fixed with the latest update? It's starting to get slightly annoying.

    Hi,

Please go to Appearance → Customize → Quick Text Translations: change the text at these options field:

    - Comment,

    - Comments.

    Regards,
    PenciDesign.

If I do this, it will solve the situation at hand, but create another problem. If I go ahead with this change, it will say "1 comments".

Again, the issue is at theme level. You should be applying the pluralized string to the 0 comments case, not the singular string.

Please escalate this to a developer, they will immediately see what is the issue.
