Subject: Inquiry about Soledad Theme’s AMP Compatibility and Canonical Issues in Google Search Console
Dear Soledad Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
First of all, we want to express our appreciation for the excellent compatibility of the Soledad theme with Google’s AMP technology. However, we’ve encountered a minor issue that we’d like to discuss with you.
As you know, AMP creates a separate link for each article specifically for mobile devices. While this is generally great, it sometimes leads to canonical issues in Google Search Console, as the AMP version generates an additional link for each article.
We’re wondering if you have any recommendations or settings we can adjust to avoid these canonical conflicts. Your theme is fantastic, and we’d love to keep using it seamlessly without these indexing issues.
Thank you very much for your support. We look forward to your guidance.
The Penci AMP plugin already includes an option that automatically adds the canonical URL to AMP pages, linking them to the original post/page/archive URL to prevent duplicate content issues.
Please go to Appearance → Customize → Penci AMP → Header, and ensure that the option “Disable the canonical tag auto render on AMP pages from Penci AMP plugin” is not checked. Then, check again.
If the issue still persists on your site, please send me your site URL along with a WordPress admin account, and I will help you check it.
